Same-Day Dentistry with CEREC in Erlanger
If you have recently been to the dentist, you may have been told you need a dental crown. Now, what was just a toothache or a semi-annual appointment has turned into a headache because you will need two more dental appointments—one for preparation and the temporary crown, and one for the placement of the permanent crown. We understand that you do not have time for multiple appointments or lengthy procedures. We strive to simplify dental care, which is why we offer CEREC in Erlanger. Now, you can receive the dental restoration you need in just one day.
Experience the Difference with CEREC Technology
Dr. Darlene Sand Well offers her patients the latest advancements in dentistry to enhance patient care without compromising results. With CEREC technology, the entire process to receiving a dental restoration is simplified while maintaining high-quality results.
In the past, when you needed a dental restoration, you would need two separate dental appointments. During the first appointment, your tooth would be prepared. Then, messy and uncomfortable impressions would be taken. These would then be sent to a dental lab to create a custom-made crown. Since the crown would be made off-site, you would need a temporary crown. After the dental lab created your crown, you would then need to come back for a second appointment to remove the temporary crown to bond the permanent crown to your tooth.
CEREC simplifies the entire process so only one appointment is needed. You will have your new crown in about an hour. Your tooth is prepared the same way as with traditional crowns. However, instead of using impressions, we use 3D scans to take images of the tooth. This is the perfect option for those who have severely damaged teeth that cannot withstand impressions or those who have strong gag reflexes.
We send the images we take to our CAD/CAM software. Here, we create the specifics for your crown, including the size, shape, and color to ensure your restoration looks like a natural tooth. Finally, we send the information to our in-office milling machine. The milling machine makes your crown from a single block of ceramic material. In about an hour, your permanent crown is ready to be bonded to your tooth.
With the entire process handled in office, you benefit from more precise and accurate results while avoiding the headache of temporary crowns and multiple appointments. Although the entire process only takes about an hour, your new restoration will be of the highest quality to safely repair and protect your tooth for many years to come.
